• 1 metre = 3.28 ft

• 1 mile = 63,360 inches

Formulas:

• a² + b² = c²

• ArcTAN(ratio) = slope°

• TAN(slope°) = slope ratio

• HD = SD * COS(slope°)

• elevation difference = HD * slope%

  • i.e. elev. diff. = 20m * 50% = 10m

What you should know:

• map scale = map / real world

• photo scale = photo / real world = f / H

• interpolation = partial / full

• metric conversions ( mm --> cm --> m --> km)

• how to rearrange HD = SD * COS(slope°) and solve for SD
