Short Profile
Dr. Rosmy Jean Louis received his PhD in Economics from the
University of Manitoba, Canada in 2004. Currently, he is the
Chair of the Department of Economics at Vancouver Island
University where he has been teaching since 2004. His past
experiences include lecturer positions at the University of
Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and various universities
in Mexico and visiting Assistant Professor at the University of
Dubai and visiting Professor at Qingdao University Science and
Technology (QUST), China. He has worked as consultant for Delta
Integracion Corporativa of Mexico and various companies in
Canada.
Dr. Jean Louis has co-authored more than 20 papers over the
years whiled teaching 11 courses (graduate and undergraduate)
per year. His research appears in academic journals such as
Empirical Economics, Economics of Transition, Emerging Markets
Finance and Trade, Journal of International Financial Markets,
Institutions & Money, International Economics and Economic
Policy, International Review of Finance, the World Economy
Journal, Journal of Economics and Finance, Economic Modelling,
Review of Middle East Economics and Finance, the Quarterly
Review of Economics and Finance, and Tourism Management, among others.
As part of his service to the community, Dr. Jean Louis is
currently Chair of the Finance Committee for North Cedar
Improvement District and has been a Trustee since 2006.
