Math 111 Spring 2014 Final Exam Notes

What to Bring:

Bring lots of pencils, pens, erasers, a basic scientific (non-graphing) calculator, a watch, a ruler, and your student ID. Do not bring scrap paper as it will be provided. Cell phones, music players and other electronic devices must be put away during the exam and may not be used as clocks. Also, packs and bags must be placed at the front of the room during the exam, so avoid bringing valuables with you to the exam.

You will be given a formula sheet similar to the one used for Test 4.

Extra Practice:

The final exam is comprehensive, and so may include any material covered since the first day of the course.

To prepare for the final you should review the practice material suggested for the four class tests and also work through the homework assigned for Chapter 8 which was not included on Test 4. In addition I recommend that you work through some old exams; here are some:

  1. Fall 2011 Final Exam (Omit Question 10(a)) (solutions)
  2. Fall 2010 Final Exam (Omit Question 8(c) & 10(c)) (solutions)
  3. Fall 2009 Final Exam (Omit Question 10(c) & 11(b)) (solutions)

Note: You should expect questions involving continuously compounded interest and logarithms (Section 6.2). In years past those concepts were not focus topics and so do not appear on the old final exams. We spent more time on those topics this term, however, and so you should be prepared for a question or two.
