STUDENT PRESENTATIONS

Every student is required to present to the class a 10 to 12 minute discussion of their final paper.  One week prior to the presentation students are required to distribute to the class a 1 to 2 page summary of their thesis, research base, questions examined, and how their topic adds to an understanding of the period.  This handout is to allow each student in the class to be prepared prior to the presentations, so that this basic information does not have to be repeated in the presentation.  Students in their presentations are able therefore, rather than simply rereading the handout, to explore and discuss an aspect of their research and findings in more detail than what an overview summary provides.   The presentation can be used to expand on a particular finding in the research, methodological problems, other questions raised by the research, etc.

Students will be marked for their personal presentation style (5 marks) and for the content of the presentation (10 marks), which will include such things as knowledge of the topic, explanation of the thesis and its relevancy to the period, ability to answer questions about the topic, etc.

Make certain that you are familiar with the attendance policy for these presentations.  While these are individual presentations, it is a class activity and full support by the entire class is important for every presentation.
