The Whitehall Evening Post

8-10 September 1789

Extract of a letter from Madrid, 18 August: "The little fleet fitted out for the purpose of making discoveries, and commanded by Don Alexander Malaspina, sailed from Cadiz the 30th of last month. The expenses which the Court have been at in fitting out these ships, and furnishing them with various kinds of astronomical, mathematical, and physical instruments, for the intended voyage, proves how much his Majesty wishes to encourage and promote the Arts and Sciences."
