Introduction

This is Not-Feeling-Well Wade. Wade needs to know how to solve the problem of not feeling well. This is how Wade feels. He has no energy. He is sick a lot. He has weak muscles. He feels sleepy all the time. Your job is to help Wade have a healthy body.
 



The Task

You are a team of health and fitness experts. Your job is to find ways that will help Wade to get healthy. 

1.  You will choose a role of either "Nancy Nutrition" or "Eric Exercise".

2.  You will search for and find information in the role of that person to help Wade become a healthier person.

3.  You will give your advice to Wade by choosing one of the following: 

  • Create a poster that shows what a healthy lifestyle looks like. 
  • Write a public service announcement about a healthy living plan.
  • Create a week long schedule of an exercise and eating plan.

 
 



The Process

1. You will work in groups of four.

2. You and a partner will be given a role as either "Nancy Nutrition" or "Eric Exercise".

3. Read the questions for your role.

4. Record your findings in the Infochart or Organizer provided.

5. When your research is finished, you will meet with the rest of your group and decide how you will present your advice to Wade.

6. Most of all, have fun!!!
 

You are Nancy Nutrition. Your challenge is to learn about how food choices can help Not-Feeling-Well Wade feel better. You must find and collect the following information. Record the following in your InfoChart:

1.  Find out what the four food groups are by looking at the Food Pyramid.

2.  How can the Bread, Cereal, Rice, and Pasta Group "fuel" Wade's body?

3.  How can the Vegetable and Fruit Group "fuel" Wade's body?

4.  How can the Milk, Yogurt, and Cheese Group "fuel" Wade's body?

5.  How can the Meat, Poultry, Fish, Beans, Eggs, and Nuts Group "fuel" Wade's body?

  • Name five food items in each food group.
  • How many servings of each food group should Wade eat every day?
6. Why are Fats, Oils, and Sweets at the very top of the Food Pyramid?

7.  Pick one fruit and one vegetable and explain why Wade should have them in his diet.
 
 

You are Eric Exercise. Your challenge is to find out how exercise can help Not-Feeling-Well Wade feel better.  Record the following in your Organizer:

1.  Why should Wade exercise? Give him five (3) tips about exercise and healthy living?

2.  What will exercise do for Wade's heart?

3.  What will exercise do for Wade's muscles?

4. What will exercise do for Wade's flexibility?

5.  List some activities that would be healthy for Wade's heart.

6.  Can exercise cheer Wade up? How?
