Special note:  materials, such as books or pamphlets, would be very beneficial to add to this project.  The web sites that relate to the disruption and destruction of animal habitat need to be supplemented with additional material in order for students to form a solid opinion based on balanced evidence.

Before beginning this webquest, students must have knowledge of basic keyboarding skills, Inspiration, Word, and KidPix.  Tutorial lessons should be done with each program if students do not have background knowledge.  Students may need coaching on particular areas of the webquest depending on the ability level of the class  (for instance, importing the graphics may be a new concept for many students).

Learning Outcomes:

This webquest was constructed to suit various learning outcomes from the Grade 4 IRP.  They relate to Science, Technology, and Language Arts.
 
 
In Science

Students will:
~use research skills to gain knowledge of an animal species
~relate the importance of habitat to the survival of a species
~understand the delicate balance of ecosystems
 

In Technology

Students will:
~use the Internet for research purposes
~learn how to use graphic organizers in word processing documents
~use templates to create import information and images
~learn how to save and import images
~use various software including Inspiration, Word, KidPix, and the Internet
 

In Language Arts

Students will:
~use research skills to express knowledge of a topic
~use written communication to express opinions
~use literary tactics to lure readers
~use proofreading skills (COPS)
