The
Process
Your
King is demanding! He wants you to create a report that will show
evidence that your explorer's journey was worthwhile.
Your reports should
include:
-
A description of the mode of travel.
This might be by ship, canoe, or on foot. Click on your explorer to find
the information to be printed. Print
out important information. Include your own
illustration and a written description in your report.
-
-
A report card on your explorer.
What is his name? Where is he from? Has he travelled before? If so,
where? What are his reasons for this expedition? Include your
own created illustration of your explorer on your report card. Collect
your data then go to Inspiration to web your ideas, before you write.
-
-
A description of contact with First
Nations people. Did you meet any native people? If not, how
might they have helped you?
-
What tribe did you meet? Was the
meeting friendly? How did your explorer treat these people?
How did these people treat you and your explorer friends? Did you
barter or trade goods with the First nations people? Print
the data you find, then go to Microsoft Word and write a letter to the
King.

-
What kind of terrain did you traverse?
What is the land like over which you traveled? Did you stay on board
ship, walk many miles over mountains, or canoe with the voyageurs? Go
to Kidpix and draw the kind of landscape you think your explorer saw. Write
at least two sentences describing the terrain.
-
-
Map your route. Trace your
route on the hard copy map provided by the teacher. Label your map,
and write the dates of the journey. Print
a copy of your map from the web site below.
-
-
When you have done all the above,
you will know if your journey with your explorer has been worthwhile or
not. Write a letter to the King giving him your opinion. Go
to Microsoft Word to write your letter.
When your
journal is complete you will publish it, and share your story with your
voyageur friends.
