Introduction
Students
will have the opportunity to explore Québec's unique
culture online. Once they have 'visited' Québec, they will decide on specific aspects to
be included in a PowerPoint scrapbook. This WebQuest has been designed around B.C.'s Grade 7 French, Technology and Language Arts Learning
Outcomes.
This
WebQuest was planned to be used with the Visages 2: Le T-Shirt
Unit. However, it can also
be a 'stand-alone' tool for exploring Québec's culture.
Process
This
WebQuest could probably be completed within six or seven one-hour computer blocks. This
assumes one computer per student and that students have the requisite
knowledge identified below. This time frame does not
include presentation time.
It should take
approximately two or three sessions for the students to research Québecand find facts/pictures specific to their family role.
The next computer session
should be devoted to organizing the accumulated information onto an
Inspiration concept map.
The students should be
able to complete their PowerPoint scrapbook in three sessions.
Finally, students will
have the opportunity to present their masterpieces. Consider
presenting these scrapbooks to other classrooms in your school.

that of English Canada

identified aspects of Québecculture on their own
Adaptations

library and school resources to create a
"hard copy" scrapbook

-
groups
can be organized by the teacher so that weaker
students (in any area) are supported within the
group by students with stronger skills
Evaluation
The
teacher will evaluate each group on their final PowerPoint scrapbook
(see printable evaluation rubric). Each
student will also be required to evaluate their participation within the
group (see printable self-evaluation rubric).
It is up to the individual teacher to determine how much weight will be
allotted to each
area of evaluation.
Conclusion
By the
completion of this WebQuest, your students should be familiar with many
aspects of the Québec culture. If they have used Inspiration
and PowerPoint programs, they will be proud of their
technological accomplishments!
