The Task

The only thing your sponsor, Culture Québec, ask of you is that your family keep a scrapbook of your journey.  This scrapbook will be used to promote Québec's unique culture. They would like you to create your scrapbook as a PowerPoint slide presentation, but if you don't have the program you can make it any way you would like.

The Process

1.  Your first task is to decide your family's 'Who's Who'.                                                    Check out the Group Skills Self-Evaluation to help guide your group work.  Your teacher will provide you with a copy of the group skills self-evaluation form.

Meet your family...

Mom - She likes museums, galleries, and classical music. Sister - She likes  street stuff such as historical sites and monuments.
Dad - The nature buff. He likes any outdoor activities,  plants, and animals . Brother - He loves Sports and special events.  Give this kid a crowd!

2.

Where would you like to go?  What would you like to see?    Use the following sites to find specific events, sites, attractions, foods, etc.  that would be of interest to you in your role.  Record your findings on this printable 'Québec Fun and Facts'  sheet.  If you find something that may be of interest to other members of your family, record it on your sheet to share with them later.   Collect pictures and 'mementos' in a PowerPoint file for your scrapbook.  Can't find a picture of what you want?  Search for one in the photogallery sites listed below.

General Sites for Everyone:

Discovery Channel's Travel Site for Québec

  Tourism Québec Site

  Tourism Montréal Site

  Worldweb Travel Guide to Québec

3.

Get together with your family to share your adventures.  Did you get to see and experience everything you wanted?   Check the evaluation page for your PowerPoint scrapbook.  Continue to collect more 'mementos' if your chart isn't complete.

4.

Got Everything?  Great!  Time for your family to start putting together your PowerPoint scrapbook.   If you have an Inspiration program, try this organizer.  If not, you can print this version.  Put a caption (in French, bien sûr!) on each picture/memento.

5.

Show it off!  Before you send your scrapbook off to 'Culture Québec', share it with your classmates.  Present your scrapbook to your class and describe your trip using your best French.

Conclusion

We hope you have enjoyed your virtual journey to Québec. Now you know why it's called "La Belle Province." How did you find Québec compared to other cultures in Canada?  Is there a Francophone culture near you that you can investigate?

Your sponsors would like to thank your family for a job well done. Your scrapbook will be used to promote Québec culture and encourage others to visit Québec, virtually or in real life!
