Literacy

There are no spelling or grammatical errors in the article. The sentence structure conveys a clear meaning. Student takes obvious risks with the use of new language

There are very few spelling or grammatical errors in the article. The meaning is obvious throughout most of the article and the student has taken some risks with the use of new language.

Several spelling and/or grammatical errors in the article. Student seems to have spent little or no time editing their work. Meaning of sentences and info is often unclear, but an attempt was made. Student uses mostly common words, does not take risks with new language.

Many spelling and grammatical errors throughout article. Article is not finished and gives little or no meaning or info in regards to Chinese Topic.

Research

New info from student's research is evident in the article (based on what is in Travel Log). Student appears to synthesize background knowledge with new researched info.

The student has used most of the info from their Travel Log in the article and has made a fairly good attempt at synthesizing background knowledge with new knowledge (synthesis is not necessarily always correct, but attempted).

The student has utilized a very small amount of info from their research and Travel Log. Little or no attempt at has been made to synthesize background knowledge with new knowledge.

Article Appeal

The student has chosen a topic- appropriate image. There is a successful attempt at making the article interesting and relevant to Canadian readers.

Image is not related to topic, but article is fairly relevant to Canadian reader or image is topic relevant, but weak attempt has been made to make article relevant to Canadian readers.

Article has no image and content is irrelevant to Canadian reader.

Overall Presentation (Group Mark)

The articles are presented in a book/card format. The title page includes all group members’ names, a clear and attractive title. All articles are word processed and set clearly on the book/card page.

Presentation includes all the necessary aspects, but is slightly disorganized or messy.

Presentation is missing at least one of the necessary aspects and is disorganized and messy.

Presentation is missing all necessary aspects and is incomplete.
