The BC Regional Innovation Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Rural Development Malaspina University-College in partnership with Thompson Rivers University have been approved for a BC Regional Innovation Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Rural Development. The Research Chair will partner with rural communities, other post secondary institutions and researchers to develop an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach to the issues and challenges facing communities in developing tourism. He/she seeks to distribute the economic benefits of tourism, enhance the experiences of visitors, and develop a model to assist with national rural tourism development and planning. The chair works to increase community involvement in the planning process through linking research, education and practice.
