I have been teaching forest sciences at
Vancouver Island University (Malaspina
University-College) since 1987. Prior to this, I worked as an operational
forester on the BC coast and in the southern interior of the province for the BC
Ministry of Forests and Range and the forest industry; I also taught and practiced
forestry in southern Alberta. While teaching at VIU, I have been involved
in operational forestry as a partner in a coastal forest products company. |

I graduated from the Selkirk College Forest Resources
Technology program in 1975, worked as a forest technologist for a few years
before completing my undergraduate degree in Forest Resource Management
at the University of British Columbia, graduating in 1982. I am a member of the
Association of BC Forest Professionals; for several terms, I sat as chair of the Vancouver
Island Section of the Canadian Institute of Forestry
http://www.cif-ifc.org/ and as member of
it's National Board of Directors; currently, I sit on the National Executive as
Vice President; I also serve on the board of directors for the
BC Coast Silvicultural Committee and the Festival of Forestry
and as representative of a
Canada-European Student Mobility project sponsored by Human Resources and
Skills Development Canada.
