English 362: Meetings, Assignments, & Grades
[Return to English 362 Home Page]
We will meet weekly, for three hours consisting of a lecture and discussion of the assigned literary
texts, discussion of assigned critical readings (with brief summaries of those readings presented by
the assigned groups) and, beginning in the third week, seminar presentations. I will be available
for consultation and discussion the hour or so prior to class each Monday, but will also be
available via electronic mail, at the address listed above.
Term assignments include:
- assigned group summaries of critical readings; these will be roughly 500 words in length per
reading, will be presented in class, and will be submitted electronically to me (for posting) no later
than the Thursday prior to the class meeting; this, and other group work, will comprise 10% of
your final mark;
- a 20 minute seminar presentation, the date of which will be chosen at our second meeting; it
will be worth 20% of your final grade;
Final assignments include:
- an 8-10 page term paper; this will be due the last meeting of class, and will be valued at 30%;
- a final exam, worth 30%.
Class contribution is valued into your final grade at 10%.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me, either
during office hours or, outside of them, by electronic mail.
