The Literary Theory Research Group was launched by Dr. Richard J. Lane and Dr. Daniel Burgoyne in the Spring of 2007, at Vancouver Island University.

The aim of the group is to foster advanced studies in the humanities at VIU, through focused, theoretically oriented research topics.  The main vehicle for research will be annual, year-long seminars, each series culminating in a one-day conference; national and international visiting speakers will be invited to deliver papers for discussion.  The group will also facilitate and, where possible, support the publication of its ongoing research.
