Fraud is everyone’s responsibility
 |
Statistically, any business with 4 or more employees will experience
fraud. |
 |
Attempts to deal with the rash of corporate scandals over the last
decade (Enron, WorldCom, Nortel, Hollinger, and others) have made
legislators, professional bodies, management, and researchers aware
that fraud cannot be addressed on a symptomatic basis. Fighting
fraud is everyone's responsibility. |
 |
Previously, the focus of fraud was the employee who cheats on his
expense claim or embezzles a few thousand dollars; now experts
realize that external and internal fraud occurs at every level, in
every type of organization. |
 |
The
global nature of today's business world, and the proliferation of
networks and the Internet have given fraudsters new opportunities,
while creating massive new challenges for fighting fraud. |
