Some botany websites
Lily female gametophyte development
Flowering plant reproduction and other plant pictures
This site includes some good photos, but watch for errors. For example, under in the "flowering plant reproduction; meiosis" section, the second photo is titled "megaspore tetrads," but it actually shows microspore tetrads. A couple of lines down, "plain of section" should read "plane of section." In the entry titled "pollen grain with pollen tube," the photo has 2 sperm nuclei labeled, and the other nucleus labeled as "generative nucleus." Of course, the 3rd nucleus is really the tube nucleus (the generative nucleus divided by mitosis to produce the 2 sperms). I have not checked over all of the entries, but be aware that there may be other errors.
Plate tectonics animations
The website below has a number of animations that show continental drift in various parts of the world. These are useful in understanding some of the family distributions described in the biogeography portion of Biology 122. On the home page of the website, look for the section on the far left of the screen called "Animations." On the animations page, scroll down to the section headed "Continental Drift Animations, and click on "Pangea VR" to see an animation of the breakup of Pangea from 200 mya up to the present. The animation called "Caribbean" (higher up on the animations page) shows how the Isthmus of Panama formed about 6 mya, reuniting North and South America, which had been apart for over 100 my.
