Last revised on 10/03/03	This picture has a place of honour on this page because it was the first multimedia email message I received. The picture was recorded on video during a SCOET meeting, by Mike Quinlan who then digitized it on a computer, superimposed it on a Mosaic (shows you how old the picture is) WEB page, added transparency to part of the background, made into a GIF file and emailed to me as an attachment.

I changed the format of this page to a date format, as an attempt to deal with broken links ( the further down the page, the more dead links there are) and it's slowly becoming more of a repository for my activities than pointers to resources.

2003

Ever since Plato and the book, we've been intrigued by the use of media in teaching and learning. We've followed its' promise, we've lamented its failure, we've revised how we look at it and we've rethought how we use it. 	Resources for UBC Instructional and Information Design for New Media course Spring/Summer 97. These resources are for students taking this course, however faculty will find these resources very useful in helping to think about designing educational materials for on-line instruction or multimedia.
	SEEDS - Great resource for faculty in BC interested in learning more about multimedia, CMC or videoconferencing. Practical advice, applications, how-to's and examples of how these technologies are being used in B.C. This site is now archived rather than maintained.
	Anyone interested in educational technology should check the Standing Committee on Educational TEchnology (SCOET)
	Interactive Course Authoring Project. A summary showing what a group of Malaspina faculty accomplished when we worked collaboratively developing curriculum materials.
	Instructional Design On-line. Resources for faculty wanting to know about on-line instruction, design, etc.
	Education Technologies Issues and Strategies A collection of papers discussing change that is taking place at educational institutions, what some of issues are, how technology seems to be driving the change and strategies that might help in dealing with change.
	Media 113 Media 113 - Emerging Communications is a three credit course that was held in Nanaimo and Powell River via videoconferencing in the Spring 1996. We think it is the first course in BC that was taught using Desktop videoconferencing. This means the students in Powell River will be able to see us, talk to us and share applications and documents over the phone line. It was taught by myself and Marshall Soules. This page is under construction, preparing for a SHAW Cable TV series on WEB Page Development to air late May 1996. It will contain information on how to create WEB pages, applications to assist in making pages, automated page making links, best of the WEB sites in terms of functionality and design, and of course the Worst of the WEB. This page will evolve in the next few months to reflect the changes.
	Virtual Reality Virtual Reality and Virtual Reality Markup Language is growing on the Internet. This page has links to VR and VRML sites and examples of how they can be used in education.
