Exercise
#1: "Object" monologue
Write a brief monologue, using first-person narration, from the point of view of
a household object (appliance, piece of furniture, article of clothing, tool or
utensil, etc.). Although you must obviously rely on your imagination in order to
invent the voice here, you should consider how you can make the voice convincing
to the reader, in the sense of being appropriate, consistent and--above
all--interesting. Your monologue should be no more than one page of
double-spaced type.
(This exercise will be graded on a pass/fail basis and considered as part of the "participation" component of your final grade. Be prepared to read out your monologue in class)
